Listen and Learn Something New

Hearing isn’t necessarily listening, nor is it necessarily listening well. Many people listen with the intent to reply, rather than the intent to understand. Listening looks passive, however in order to be a good listener, it is actually hard work.

There are many benefits to being a good listener:

  • Listening sincerely builds trust inviting people to open up
  • It broadens your perspective, allowing you to re-examine your beliefs and “one way” of looking at life
  • Being a good listener strengthens your patience
  • Listening well can help you solve problems and see new opportunities
  • You become more approachable and sort after
